I agree with you that a so-called "stalker" is in many cases NOT sexual harassment.
I'm saying this from a perspective of being a dad with a daughter who experienced that several times. They were just awkward guys, and there was no harassment. I could easily see how some people would incorrectly paint it that way, however, and I think that cheapens the whole thing. It's unfortunate.

But that's not what I'm talking about. Most of the females with whom I have discussed this have a story they've shared that I agreed was sexual harassment. Many of them also had cases that would be sexual assault, if prosecuted.

As an example, when I was engaged to my wife, she worked for a place in the SL Valley that I won't give any details about other than to say in the job shorts were part of the standard attire. A few months into this job, her boss told her, "I hired you because I like to look at your legs." That is literally what he said. That is not stalking. That is not innocent. It may have been a joke from his perspective, but that's the problem: people excuse that as a joke. It's not funny, and should not be acceptable. There is no way she should have had to be subjected to that.

It is a real issue. It is more widespread than we think. I just wish there were a better way to go about educating people than a metoo hashtag on Facebook.
