Here are some anecdotal specifics
I wouldn't be upset if Cahoon were given another year because he did have some crazy inexperience at WR this season, but I also think our abysmal offensive performance also had a lot to do with WR coaching.

You guys ask for data but we simply don't have it. No one publishes passes dropped in the NCAA. You can't measure lazy routes, receivers giving up on plays, etc. So of course a lot of the arguments are going to be based on observation. So here are some specifics - to me, these things point to coaching - but I'll hear you out if you think otherwise.

- Receivers giving up on plays. Very little fire from many of our receivers at different points in different games. I'll give you one example that I still remember vividly because it pissed me off so much. A receiver (I won't say his name) was underthrown on a long ball, was held up a bit by the defender to keep him from coming back to the ball - he gave up on the play, and then didn't even complain about the hold. He literally just started jogging back to the line of scrimmage like "ah well, we'll get it next time". The ref actually pulled the flag while the player's back was turned. That was a double whammy for me. Not only did he give up on the play, but he didn't even bother to throw his hands up for a flag, didn't look at the ref for a flag, just started moseying along. This points to effort/desire/motivation. I know this is anecdotal - it's not data - but it's an observation that I think many on here have noticed at different times during the season. Can that be coached? IDK, but we should at least see some sort of accountability. Next man up. It's not like our starters were getting the job done anyway.

- The pick play in the endzone against Utah. Arguably cost us the Utah game. WR made contact with the DB when it was absolutely unnecessary and when every single D1 receiver should know better than to make forcible contact with the defender on a play like that. Coaching? Inexperience?

- Dropped passes. Multiple drops by the same player in some games. Drops in crucial moments (end of the Utah game comes to mind). I realize it's hard to pin this on the coach, and I wish we had a passes dropped stat to compare year over year, but I can't remember the last time I saw a single BYU player drop at least 3 passes in a single game. That happened during two games this year that I remember. The receiver was never benched. Shouldn't there be some accountability for that?

- Route running, field awareness, etc. An example of this was one of our taller receivers running along the left sideline. Ball thrown perfectly, receiver didn't know where he was on the field, and caught the ball out of bounds. Announcers even commented on the fact that the receiver should have known where he was on the field and that the ball was in the right spot.
