Playing conservative is going to make it easier for the other team to pick you apart piece by piece and consistently lose on that side of the ball as opposed to playing defense the way it is supposed to be played.

Example the Broncos won the Superbowl 2 years ago with a mediocre offense. Did you see the Broncos play conservatively defensively? Of course not. They played aggressively and won those games themselves.
