I would say this was true in the past, but not so much any more
I am an early morning seminary teacher and not long ago I was a youth Sunday School teacher with the new come follow me program. In both situations there have been consistent messages portrayed that mental health is a serious issue that is taken seriously. It may be that I emphasize it more than others due to my profession, but there have been many talks lately that treat it seriously. Elder Holland gave an amazing talk in the last 10 years emphasizing that its a serious issue that warrants treatment, he compares it to appendicitis in that you might seek a blessing but you still seek treatment.

The Stake Relief Society has asked me both last year and this year to give a seminar to women of the stake on Anxiety and Depression in the church. I think that the church has aggressively attacked the misconception that you can CTR or pray your way out of mental illness.
