Rose and BYU never did adapt to the "stallball, brawlball type of play in the WCC. BYU had been a fast paced (real basketball) team for years. The first year in the WCC, Rose was called for some Tech-fouls for the first time in his carer. He objected the "rough, stalling" play in the WCC. The answer to Rose from the WCC was "As a conference, we are not going to get NBA talent, so we feel our style of basketball gives us a better chance to compete." BYU had won several conference championships where they play real basketball. No matter who is coach, I don't believe BYU will ever adapt to the desperate style of WCC basketball. The WCC womwen now play the same style, one of the BYU women players, a transfer from Utah, said the hardest thing she had to adapt to was all the fouls that are not called in the WCC.
