Emery, Haws, Dastrup, and Mika were all 4* top 100 ESPN recruits. So is Baxter (who returns this summer). Yoeli, Bryant, Nixon, Seljaas, and Harding were all solid prospects with major D1 offers, too. For crying out loud, Jashire Hardnett had offers from Clemson and UCONN. Trevin Knell was committed to Cal before Rose flipped him. We’re recruiting enough talent to be much better than a WCC also-ran. Our problem is getting all the talent Rose has recruited on the court at the same time.
The problem with BYU basketball is clearly the mission program (and to a lesser degree marriage). Missions disrupt the continuity of the program profoundly, and often set guys back years. Some (Dastrup, Haws, among many others) may never truly return to pre-mission form. If we stopped sending our guys out on missions, the basketball program would improve dramatically.
