my mission.
Both mine and my comps bikes broke down. It took almost the rest of our money to fix them. I told my comp "no problem" and I would support us for the 4 days until zone conference and we received our next monthly stipend.
I had a debit card with some emergency money. I had never tried using it until that time. It didn't work. I since learned to always have some emergency money in cash.
We were in a super poor area about an hour outside of Acapulco. When we ate with members, they never ate with us because we were probably eating their food for the day. So we really couldn't ask anybody for help.
The EQP was a bread maker. We were in his neighborhood that evening so we stopped by. His bread sales were down that day so he gave us a sack of old sweet bread. Perfect, we now had breakfast and dinner for the next 3 days.
We chowed on the bread that evening, and placed the bag on the wide window ledge. The next morning, we woke up and headed to the bread bag. It was infested with hundreds of those really tiny red ants! I was starving and thought about all the crap I had eaten in Mexico (like pig brain, pig ears, pig and cow tongue, chicken feet, cow stomach, chicken livers and hearts, etc...) and thought a little bit of ant in my bread can't hurt.
I brushed off as many ants that I could then chowed down. My comp did the same.
At the end of the 3 days, the bread was so stale there weren't as many ants at the end.
Good times!
