A full ride athletic scholarship is worth at least $40k-$50k on tuition value alone, but often closer to $100k due to all the other stuff (clothing, food, room/board, tutors, stipends, travel costs, etc.) To say student athletes are not compensated is to look at a single factor at the expense of several other more compelling ones.
