I will put this bluntly. Legally you are wrong. 5 years experience as an
Insurance adjuster. If he stole your car than you need to file a police report. If not, then you gave him permission at least implicitly. Insurance follows the car not the driver.

Put this another way. Say he killed someone in an accident. Guess who the other party’s estate would go after? You first and your insurance. Once your limits were up they would then go after you and him.

Please know I’m not trying to be rude. Shortly after I posted my original post a lawyer who is on this board contacted me and confirmed what I wrote.
