It wasn’t necessarily tv reassurances

At that time the Big12 was hanging on to life by a thread as several members had just left and others were considering leaving. Byu wanted reassurance the conference wasn’t going to impolode after they joined. Byu overplayed it’s hand because they thought they were negotiating from a position of strength, thought they were the clear choice, and they lost.

Tcu clearly took advantage and asked for no reassurance or stipulations.
