I think we lost 90 percent of the kids in SLC over the last 25 years to Utah. The Utes have dominated this period. Not only on the scoreboard but in conference affiliation. They've beaten us 18 out of 25 times. That's unacceptable. People complain that they got the P5 invite, but let's be honest, head to head, they were better than us when the call came. I'm not saying we didn't deserve it, but is sure made it easier for them to discriminate against us when the head to to head on field results were in Utah's favor.

We lost so many potential fans in the last quarter century, I honestly doubt we can recover from it. I've been beating this drum for sometime. We are going to be stunned at the amount of Ute fans versus Cougar fans over the next 20 years, simply by the sheer number we lost over the last two decades.

What you said about your own son, is such a common theme among BYU Dad's it's really scary. We can't even keep interest alive in our own kids.

SLC used to be BYU territory. When I grew up Utah fans were rare. Now it's all Utah. I'll be generous and say 10 percent of kids in SLC schools are holding on to the idea of BYU. We lost a huge demographic, and there's no getting it back. But the future is scary when you see the shift, and you look at the apathy even on the current BYU campus.
