He had joined church. I knew nothing about church or BYU. I became immediate fan by listening to the late night basketball games. Think I was in the 9th grade at the time, maybe 10th. I wanted to become a cougar since that time. I finally made it even though transferring from 2 other schools to get here. I was not as successful in my athletic career here as he was. Good enough to letter but not become a star.
