Dad worked at the Y. Had lunch with Gifford Nielson in the cougareat. (Set up by my neigjbors dad)
Suffered through all the early Holiday Bowl disappointments. My dad bought a special tv with a UHF antenna to watch the Miracle Bowl in 80. Dad and i danced around the living room shouting at the top of our lungs when Clay Brown caught the ball in the end zone.
Went to the 1st game in the expanded bowl in 83 - which i think was a loss to UNLV.
Considered walking on my greshman year in 84. One walk around the SFH amoungst those huge linemen convinced me to focus on academics (regrets). Drove down to SanDiego for the bowl game and celebrated with the cougar club. (Dale McCann was in my ward and did us a solid tor tickets.) As a newlywed, had tickets on the 40 yard line about 3 rows up for the Miami game (thanks lottery). Rushed the field. Great times.
