Maybe that is a situation they don't want to be in.
As somebody who was asked to tutor athletes majoring in Sociology, I am convinced that nearly any athlete willing to spend some time on homework and use all of the resources (tutors, extra time for tests, summer classes, etc.) is very capable of staying eligible for their sport and eventually graduating.
Maybe that shouldn't be the goal. But if what they want is a degree and to play sports at BYU, I think even the athlete with a 2.0 and a 17 on the ACT can do it if they are willing to spend the time.
