ZW hasn’t even played against a complex D with D1 speed - and people are saying he is ready and our best option!?!. Let’s not get too carried away.
Atleast TM has game experience and should be able to anticipate the speed of the game even more so his senior year. He also should be ready to anticipate the complexities of the defenses thrown at him. If he is not much more improved from last year (due to health, new offense, better o-line and experience), I’d be shocked.
If TM looks like a hot mess after a game or two, then there is nothing to lose by starting JW and getting him situated for the next few years. But to me, TM is the safer bet to have a better chance to win starting game one.
One last point - How many national championships were BYU FANS saying we would get when Jake Heaps started playing QB his FR year? 😂😂. One massive hit or two later and we saw what happened to his confidence, moxey, and all those national championships. Let’s not get too carried away with JW just yet - especially after the first week of practice in shorts.
