Yes and no....
It is always nice to have depth and options at a position, but with QBs only one guy plays and having that many on scholarship means there are other positions that may not have enough. Scholarships are valuable and having multiple guys on scholarships that will never play isn’t a good thing. I think the proper number of scholarship QBs is 4-5.

And then you have to look at it from the kids perspective, take Hall for instance. While he was gone on his mission BYU added multiple QBs even though they knew he was coming back. And it isn’t like these guys are Jrs or Sr’s either, they’re mostly freshman and sophomores. Now he’s a competitive kid and really talented so I’m sure he isn’t scared of competing but he doesn’t really have a fair chance to compete. Wilson graduated early and played in the spring, the other guys were already there, so Hall really had little chance coming off a two year layoff, and that is fine unless BYU decides to go with Wilson and he performs which means outside of an injury Hall will never really get to play regardless of how good he is. The mission may have really screwed him over.

But that is the reality of BYU and that was my point. Kids need to be aware of that if they are going on missions.
