Is it possible ...

that Merrill, being an ESPN guy and knowing how these things work, might have told the producer before the call the right things (great opportunity, Beau is working hard and will do great, happy he is following in my footsteps, etc.) to make sure he got on BYUSN on a live call specifically so he could give voice to his parental displeasure?
