I go into every game believing that there is some hope of winning regardless who the opponent is. The coaches obviously prepare a game plan for each opponent that they believe offers the best chance of victory. For games above the "ceiling", would any of you give the coaches a pass if they held out key players to avoid injury? I'd be surprised if anyone would be ok with that. I can only surmise that fans who spend time predicting a "realistic" win/loss record for the season before it even begins are attempting to shield themselves from the sting of future disappointment. I find that pretty much all losses are disappointing regardless of who is favored to win or by how much. I don't really see the harm in being optimistic of BYU's chances of winning before each and every game. If I accept the fact any game can be lost and that the floor for wins is actually 0, then I can also accept the inverse - that every game can be won and the ceiling for wins is actually 13. At least until the first loss.
