Maybe the hardest thing about being a BYU fan are the other BYU fans.
Last weekend I flew from the east coast to attend my first home game at LES since 1992. I have been to a few BYU games out this way during since that time (@ Rice, @ Virginia, @ East Carolina).
The experience vs. Cal:
The tailgating was great.
The band rehearsal was great.
The march was great.
The setting was great.
The weather was great.
Game not so great, but it was a great 1st Quarter.
Fans:
Complaining about their seats
Criticizing coaching
Criticizing officials
Criticizing players
Booing calls/players
Yelling "You know we fired our last offensive coordinator"
No, not all of the fans did these things, but enough to make you feel that it was a regular part of the culture. I have not heard this level of discontent at Rice, Virginia or East Carolina. I didn't hear it during my two years at Texas A&M where I attended grad school.
It is just me or am I unreasonably frustrated with BYU home fans at games?
