Your opinion falls flat. I've been a Padres fan since I was 8. And I'm not a casual fan. I guarantee that I am more diehard of a Padres fan than 90 percent of the people from San Diego. I've only missed eight games this entire season and they have one of the worst teams in baseball.
I live and die (mostly die) for the Pads. And I live and die for the Jazz. Someone being front San Diego doesn't make them a *true* fan. Devotion does. And whatever your gateway for liking a team might be (I got in to the Padres because Bruce Hurst pitched for them. He was from my hometown and his nephew was my friend in middle and high school) you can love a team for deeper reasons. The gateway isn't what's important, it's what you feel after the gateway.
