Tanner and the passing attack
I have said that Tanner's stats are less than stellar and they are. You can't dispute that. He is ranked around the 100th QB in the country right now of around 120 qualified QB's depending on what metrics you look at. His stats are not great. Tanner has managed games to this point and got us two wins.

I think a lot of us are just saying that he and the WR's are eventually going to have to do more. I am in no way saying that he needs to be benched. Just saying that if this team wants to continue to build and progress, the passing games needs to develop. Unless our defense can continue to hold teams to around 20 points, managing games in the offensive minded college football setting is pretty tough. Right now the jet sweep is opening up the run for Squally. Eventually the passing game will have to open up the run squally. Grimes is going to have to force Tanner to stretch the field, Tanner needs to throw better, the WR need to catch some deep balls.

People are worried about our DB's and rightfully so. How crazy would it be to say: "Hey, the DB's are perfectly fine. We are winning. We are 2-1 and the defense has played well enough to win every game".....no. Coaches are sending new combinations of players out there to see who is the best fit. We know we got Hawaii, Boise, and UW coming up who can throw it well and they will need to be on there game.

We most likely will be able to run wild on Hawaii, New Mexico State, UMass but UW, Boise, Utah, and Utah State will be a little more stout. We went 1-1 against some good run defenses in the first two games. Eventually the passing attack is going to have to win us some games. Right now it just does not look ready to do that.

That's it. Just because I state that thought does not mean I am not happy with out current record, happy for Tanner, or realize that Tanner is doing what he has been asked to do etc.... It is just an area that needs improvement and needs to progress.

Would love to see some 15+ yard passes this week to get more of that timing down.
