As long as the game plan gives us the best chance to win
Against a certain opponent i could care less if we pass it even one time and i think that has been the case for the most part thus far. I love how Grimes is not chasing numbers or playing certain guys just because but going with a game plan and personal every week that gives us the best chance to win.

I think we will see as teams spread out to try and stop the jet sweep the passing game will open up and the Team and Tanner will be ready for it. I also think if the coaches look at an opponent and feel an increased amount of passing is the best way to beat them they will employ that into the game plan and prepare all week for it and be ready to run it in the game.

A good solid running game in football has many benefits and my guess is BYU will continue to base the offense around the running game but will definitely open up the passing game more as teams focus on stopping the run, IF they can have success stopping it or limiting it. I think Utah and Washington will be the two biggest remaining challengers in this regard. Both are very fast and may have success in slowing the run game in which I agree with your point. We will then need to be able to have a solid passing scheme game plan in place to compliment what we have done already to be successful. It’s never good IMO to be one dimensional though if you are fantastic at it and have superior talent it can still work.

McNeese State likes to stack the box often and bring pressure and they have some speed though not very big so it will be interesting to see if Grimes tries to pass the ball more this week. My guess is he will still test the run game the same as he has done so far and will stick with that if it’s working using our much bigger and physical lines to control the tempo of the game but if McNeese doubles down on stopping the jet sweep and running game we may see more passes especially over the middle.

It would be great to show BYU has that ability in its Arsenal to give future opponents more to think about. Or we could save it for Washington. Personally i think for the most part Grimes has played it smart and taken what the D is giving. WI was playing to stop Canada running the ball and he could tell so instead of running him anyway right into what they were prepared for he ran the jet sweep to open them up and then ran Canada. It was a great game plan and great play calling by Grimes. You don’t have to get too fancy, just take what’s there, create advantages and attack the areas of the D where you can have the most success.

It’s great to see how the O and the D are utilizing the talent we have and i think it will continue to evolve depending on the opponent each week. It doesn’t mean we will win every game but feels like we can give even the best teams a battle and have a chance. Which is awesome!
