game in the bottom of the 7th against our rival. After the post game hugs, tears, pictures etc my son said “Dad, let’s go hit the golf course right now”. I was a little shocked because I just assumed he would want to sulk and feel sorry for himself for a few days. It was a proud dad moment when he said “our team worked our butts off for the past year and we played awesome. It sucks that its over and sucks that we lost but we couldn’t have tried any harder, so let’s go golfing”

As a parent I needed to hear that. I wanted so badly for him to win and I was feeling pretty horrible. Then in one moment my entire outlook changed and I was so proud of his effort and attitude. Then I went and kicked his butt on the golf course.

Now that kid is in Mexico dealing with successes and disappointments every day. I’m glad that sports helped him learn some of that before this journey.

Great job WVB team. It was an incredible year. What amazing young ladies and coaches ! I couldn’t be prouder to be a cougar fan even if you win it all. Keep doing what you do and we will be there cheering you on.
