Because we already got our QB1 and Cooper doesn’t want to play defense
We can’t take everyone - not even every really good LDS QB.
I think Cooper is going to have a very good college career wherever he goes. But BYU coaches think Conover is a better fit (as do all the recruiting services). I think he’d also succeed on defense at BYU like several decent QBs have done at Utah. But he doesn’t want that and BYU won’t lie to him like Whitt.

But why not tell the kid he gets to play qb? Give him a year. If he doesn't work out as a qb then ofter him a spot on
