That the qb situation at BYU just wasn’t a good one, too many young QBs and that Wilson is obviously their guy for the next several years barring a major injury or something unforeseen. In fact even if BYU had come aggressively months ago and offered I think that the odds of him accepting their offer would have been slim for that reason.

And with Utah the big concern is their offense and the fact that they don’t seem to do a great job of developing QBs. I think he’s the type of qb they actually like so he’d have fit in well from that aspect but the qb is not what they base their offense around and we feel that he’s capable of putting up some really big stats if he’s at a place that wants that from their qb. Utah wants a game manager, Hawaii wants a heisman winner. Not that we think he’ll win a heisman that’s just a good example of the way each program thinks of their qb and what they want from them.

Hawaii tells us they think he’s an nfl talent, and of course you have to take that stuff with a grain of salt when being recruited, but they insist they are sincere about that and that they don’t just say that to every recruit. That was also what several other of the programs recruiting him told us, that they think he’s got that ability so that factored into his choice, he wants to be somewhere that was trying to get him to that next level as well.

There really are a lot of things that go into the decision, far more than I ever realized before we were in this situation. It’s been a very big learning experience. Ethan Erickson’s dad posted in here and is a guy I’ve known for a lot of years because Ethan played both football and baseball for me since he was a pretty young kid. But he (Ethan’s dad) made a great post a few weeks ago about these exact things and just all of the stuff you learn from going go through this process. It really was a good post with some really good info. I’m hoping some of mine have also been informative and interesting for people who haven’t yet gone through this.
