I'm in Costa Rica right now. I searched online before hand and the consensus was that tipping isn't expected here.
At restaurants, they add a service fee to the bill, and tour guides and stuff just don't act like they expect it.
That said, I'm still tipping the people that help with our baggage and our tour guides and bartenders. They accept the tips. Haven't tipped at restaurants though because of that service fee.
