This won't be a popular take, but...
Childs frustrates me nearly every game.

You can't argue with his stats. He's racking up double/doubles like crazy. He's one of the conference leaders in both scoring and rebounds.

But there are things about his game that bug me, and that he needs to fix or improve if he has any hope of a decent professional career anywhere in the world.

1. Why does he insist on taking so many of those fadeaway shots? Yes, he has gotten better in terms of how often he makes them, but he still misses more than he makes of those. Why not kick the ball out and re-post? Or attack the rim and either get a basket or get fouled. Sure, he'll occasionally get blocked, but I like the potential outcomes of that scenario much better than the fadeway, avoid-any-contact, scenario. I'm sure opposing teams love it when Yoeli doesn't attack the basket.

2. Interior defense is spotty at best. And there's a reason a lot of teams have great games against BYU in terms of offensive rebounding.

3. I'm not liking Yoeli's infatuation with the 3-point shot. Yes, he's making them with greater frequency, but I'd much prefer him inside dunking and getting fouled or kicking the ball out to real 3-point shooters. if he gets a pass from Haws or someone else and he's wide open, I'm OK with it, but often he casts off from the 3-point line, well, just because.

4. Yoeli's focus and engagement in the game seem to be a little inconsistent. There have been several games where his 2nd-half performance far surpasses what he did in the 1st half, and it doesn't seem to have much, if anything, to do with what the other team is doing.

I believe Yoeli is a great player, but there is still much that he can improve on. As good as he currently is, I believe he can be much better. I don't believe it's in his best interest to leave after this year. Another year of seasoning and improvement will pay him dividends.

Just one man's opinion.
