I live in California and was really excited I could see BYU play live. I would go to the Pepperdine game every year. I enjoy supporting the team and seeing them close up but honestly the atmosphere is not fun. That is not a D1 gym at all, not many people there and mostly just BYU fans. The concessions did not even sell nachos. Seriously, they had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches but no nachos. I am not 12 years old and like some nachos while watching the game.
One season a guy I know brought the young men from his ward to the game for an activity. You can tell they were so bored. Part is from the play but part is also from the atmosphere.
Even when BYU wins it’s not that fun of a game. Eating peanut butter and jelly in a high school gym is not my favorite way to spend an evening.
BYU deserves better.
