I've only watched the women's team twice so I can't tell you what these ladies do outside of the box score #'s.....but.......
Albiero....Brazil......shoots 30% from the field. She would be getting roasted if she were on the men's team. 3 pts/game
Signe Glantz .....Sweden..... Doesn't play much.
Salmon....New Zealand.....good size....but averages 5 and 5.
Smiler.....New Zealand.....doesn't play.
Taito......New Zealand......doesn't play.
Babalu Ugwu.......Brazil.......3 pts/game.
So actually their main contributors are from normal recruiting grounds. I would say the best recruiting philosophy for the men's team would be to take decently talented + size in the post wherever you can find it....Li's a good get for that reason........Tolu Smith for instance should have been a BYU priority.......because that's still the premium in basketball.......and add a JC player on the wing whenever you can that brings something different than your typical recruiting pool offers up. That's it. That's going to get back in the 25 win range. The International pipeline is not a gold mine. There's just as many crummy players in that, maybe even more, as the Pac 12 has learned. Replacing the Oakland/Compton/Inglewood kids that their recruiting pool used to pump out with foreigners isn't a fair trade off usually.
I think the takeaway from the roster comparison should be that the women actually have size.....whereas our men's team is very average sized....these are the averages for both across the NCAA....so Hamson being a +5" at Center for example would make her a 7'2" men's equivalent:
