I agree with the overall point, but volleyball recruiting and basketball recruit
Recruiting are too different beasts. If MVB tried to follow the MBB recruiting plan, BYU would lose every set by 15+.
You’re right, there are only two volleyball players from Utah. But those two were some of the best players all-time. There isn’t enough talent in Utah to produce more than one or two D1 players every few years, let alone a whole team.
