You do that by having:
1. Top 50 offense and defense
2. Win WCC regular season
3. Win WCC tourney (this one is the toughest)
4. Win instate games
5. don't drop games to 150+ ranked teams

BYU fans who have an expectation to win NCAA tournament games really need to rethink goals. Over the past 30 years we just haven't done that. Winning a postseason game in the NCAA tourney should just be icing on the cake....just enjoy the ride!

And, I do not really like comparing football to basketball. One: I am a bball fan first and a football fan second. Two: 20% of the basketball teams make the tournament, and 3% of the football teams make the playoffs. A top 25 ranking is the equivalent of making the NCAA tournament. 19.5% of the teams make the NCAA tournament, 19.3% of the teams finish the season ranked in football (with automatic bids going to smaller it might be a little tougher to make the bball tournament....but it is roughly the same in my mind)

So if I had to set a GOAL for both of the big teams it is: finished ranked in football, make the tournament in bball
