RE: Undergraduate athletes don't get in solely on academic merit.

An extremely small number of undergraduate students are admitted solely on academic merit.  Extracurricular, non-academic activities, diversity, essays, life backgrounds, legacy, seminary, church activity, etc. are more important than grades and test scores for many students.  Why should grad student transfers be treated differently?  They should be admitted based on the same fuzzy admissions formulas, which often include significant factors for non-academic considerations.
