Your claim that no one plays defense is what people are responding too. If you mean players aren’t aloud to hand check and restrict movement of the offensive player anymore, then ya, you’re right. Those are rule changes the nba made. But to insinuate that players just don’t play defense anymore is ignorant.
Take an elite defensive team of today...like Milwaukee, teach them the defensive rules of the 80’s and they’d absolutely shut down offenses everywhere. Imagine having two 7 footers that are high level rim protectors. Only one is capable of defending literally anyone on the court 1 on 1. Then add a very strong, quick, long armed, aggressive defending pg. Then add two super long wings with huge wingspans that can switch onto any backcourt, wing player. Then remember that the offense will probably have 2 or 3 non shooters. Will keep 2 guys in the paint at all times...and will rarely even attempt 3’s.
No spacing combined with the crazy length and athleticism means the offense would be completely bogged down with no passing or driving lanes...just bad shots after bad shots
