The Dude Abides The royal we.
There are a lot of factors when depression is factored in. Maybe some people need more
validation and words of encouragement. His words “undertones of” had me thinking she isn’t straight up saying do better or else. Maybe she’s implying it or maybe she isn’t and he is thinking she is because she isn’t saying great job.

Quitting a job over a manager who isn’t pouring praise on you seems like a drastic step. Maybe there are a million jobs like his and he could just jump ship. If so, go for it. Do what you gotta do. But his post sounded like “I love my job but my boss doesn’t recognize I’m doing awesome”. If that’s the case, talk it out with her and see what the deal is.

I had a job where I didn’t feel my boss was recognizing what I was doing. I talked to him and he felt my position was too close to his position and it was hard to be a boss to someone similar in job title and responsibilities. We talked it out. Got along fine.

Just saying sometimes things are challenging. Find a solution.
