I think you really do have to evaluate, consider options, and then pray and go with your gut.
Look - I was in a bad situation. I felt like leaving. But the more I prayed for relief and thought about it, the more I felt like I should stay. And I couldn't think of a worse boss to work for. She was really that bad.
I stuck it out for a long time as it increasingly got worse.
Then - one day the CEO fires my boss and asks me to replace her as a Dept Director. That was 8 years ago. Next month the CEO will retire and through her mentoring and guidance, the board of directors has appointed me as her successor.
If I had just left a bad situation instead of evaluating and bringing prayer and patience into it, I would never be where I am now. Sometimes those situations that are negative help us with growth and lead to good things.
Now - not always. That's where prayer and inspiration play a role. But to say anyone in a bad work situation should just up and quit now - I just don't think that's always the right answer. It wasn't for me.
