Cheap Seats 3rd String
A couple of things:
I've lived with my in-laws on different occasions. Once for 8 months when we moved into California from WA. I was out of work for a while in WA and after taking my first job in CA we decided to live with my wife's folks until we were back on our feet. We had a 1 year old at the time. It wasn't so bad, but I was gone most of the day so I wasn't too close to the day to day in the house. By 8 months it was certainly time to go.

Second time around was recently. Our first born was 9 by this point. We also had a 7 year old and a 2 year old. We had just sold our home and were holding out for our next house. We lasted about 2.5 months. It was certainly more strenuous with older kids. 2.5 months was enough time.

Think big picture. Many of your reasons are tied to living at your parents. Forget that, what does the end game look like? I assume your plan isn't to live at your parents long term. If it is you are crazy. If you live there for a certain period of time will you be able to afford to live in that same area, or will you be forced into a 1hr plus commute, in a neighborhood with less then ideal schools? Looking short term is very risky.
