DO IT. Providing for your family is greater than everything else.
Life is hard, you and your wife will have to sacrifice if this is what it takes to get out of a “dead end” career. If you are truly in a dead end career, then it would be utterly irresponsible to not take this opportunity. The cons are unpleasant, but in the scheme of getting out of a dead end career and getting an excellent opportunity...the cons you’ve listed are peanuts. In my field plenty of peers have lived 6-18 months away from their families because that’s what the opportunities required. You and your wife will develop personally and professionally. Don’t give in to fear or inertia.
