When I was young, I hit my sister in the head with a rock. Seeing the injury
and her reaction was devastating to me emotionally. The reality of what I had done hit me very hard. I was terrified for her and terrified of what my parents were going to do to me.

Very unusually and uncharacteristically, my parents never said a word to me about it. Later, my brother told me, "Oceanographer, Dad didn't do anything because you were white as a ghost when you came home. He knew he didn't have to."

You've reprimanded your son, now is the time to show forth an outpouring of love. I wouldn't give him any more punishment than he probably is giving himself internally.
