In an interview this week..
I really want the job and the question of pay came up. I know that they are worried about my current salary and being able to afford me.
So when asked I kinda of stumbled around the question and said I won't take a cut, may be willing to stay status quo and would prefer I see a small bump.
The interviewer responded and asked if I felt I was the right person for the job....yes, I said. Okay, personally you are more than qualified. You are by far the best candidate and come highly respected and recommended. So why would you sell yourself short? You were so prepared for every question but the most important one.
She said if you know what you bring and you know that you will add value don't sell yourself short..no matter what. If you are worth it we'll find a way to pay you what you are worth.
So, I'll ask you the question...do you think your value is $40k less than what it is now by moving to Utah? Don't sell yourself short. Utah is a hot market and costs are skyrocketing.
And the same for NY...It's one of the most expensive markets in the country. I'm not sure a little downsizing and moving from HOU for $20k more is worth it.
