But it’s 40%, not $40k. Dollar-wise it’s rightly triple the $40k in your post.
The bump up to NYC is 20%, factoring in the cost of living adjustment.
Regardless, you make a great point about selling oneself short. Many people do it, but if you’re worth it then stick to what you think you’re worth.
