Because monster vs monster violence. Script doesn't really matter in a movie
like that. It's all about the visual effects and action sequences since that's all their target audience would care about.

It was made for audiences in Asia. Any US money is bonus. Many Hollywood films are now made for Asian markets.

Good point. When I was a kid, I loved Godzilla. I even rented audio versions on vinyl from the library to listen to.
