Yea, saw it this weekend as well and thought, "where on earth could they go from here?" You got (spoilers)
aliens from other planets now fighting Godzilla... Not sure how you make it any "bigger". Seems movies are going for the "bigger" factor, and not necessarily "better" factor...

It was made for audiences in Asia. Any US money is bonus. Many Hollywood films are now made for Asian markets.
