Only in some ways. Provo also elected John Curtis as their mayor. Curtis
probably leans pretty far left for a Utah Republican. The guy was a registered Democratic until recently. He was chairman of the Utah County Democratic Party and ran for Congress on the Democratic ticket.

Frankly, I suspect the guy changed his affiliation only because he had to do so to win. Municipal politics are a different animal, but I was shocked when Provo elected him as their Mayor.

In that sense, Provo is far more open minded than SLC and Salt Lake county. You'll never see anyone with a republican past elected as mayor up here.
