Points are the only stat that really matters. All others are only indicators for that stat. Points per drive are a way
to compare teams of various offensive paces.

Being able to score when you have the ball vs being able to stop your opponent from scoring IS what matters.

You want turnovers and pressure on the quarterback, but pressure doesn’t matter if he still scores. And turnovers might as well be a punt if you can’t score after the turnover.

Pressure on the QB, time of possession, yards allowed, all of these are only things that we think might contribute to the bottom line, but we’ve seen exceptions for each.

The bottom line is, if you score more points on your opportunities than you opponent scores on theirs, you win. It doesn’t matter how they come.

This fact is the whole reason football evolves: we leave current dogma and try something that might improve our ability to outscore.
