In the first half against Toledo they used more 4 DL and it worked. In the 2nd half they used more 3 DL and an olb (mostly positioned 4-5 yards off the line in zone coverage space) and it didn’t.
I also question the team fitness level. Even with all the subbing, they seem to give up a lot more push and rushing yards in the 2nd half. I think the use of steroids by some teams places them at a disadvantage too.

The issue though is field position. Give up drives and then field position is bad, which hurts scoring.
