These “advantages” are hugely overstated and they lead to mistaken conclusions about performance of offense v defense.
Which is exactly what is happening on CB right now where people claim that the defense is even nearly as responsible for losses as the offense is.

The defense has played better than average in terms of limiting scoring on drives in every game except Washington.

The offense hasn’t met the average even once.

If the offense played against Utah or Toledo with the efficiency the defense did, we would have won both games.

V. Utah our D allowed Utah 1.6 points per possession (including the TD after we gave them the ball almost in our own red zone). They average 1.68 PPD, so we held them to fewer points per drive in offense than most have teams this year.

The offense netted .2 points per drive *for Utah*!

Lopsided TOP affects your defense more than your offense (except as it may compare to the opponent defense) but that doesn’t really come into play when your defense has played a 4-1 season in terms of holding scoring and your offense has played an 0-5 season.
