I have two kids at BYU.. One got in on grades (4.0gpa /high ACT), one got in on an athletic scholarship.
The one that got in on grades was shocked to find out how hard the competition is in the BYU classrooms. It took her a semester to go from top of her class in high school, to average at BYU.
The one that got in on an athletic scholarship struggles. He will end up with a degree from BYU, but it won't be in the field/program he wanted.
I take a ton of flack for saying 'accademics' over and over and over... but wait and see where BYU's Director of Player Personnel kid ends up signing. Word on the street is he has repeatedly told BYU 'no thank you'.
