There’s some talent out there. I’ve said it before, but BYU needs to throw out more complex blitz packages to force QBs to drop back, and to turn RBs into blockers and scheme them out of the game. That QB last game did not have the arm or accuracy to beat us over the top while under pressure. But we didn’t send any real pressure and played right into the strengths of a running team.
They will get beat in much the same way if they constantly drop most linebackers into coverage against Boise. Boise will also be starting the second-string QB most likely, and our game plan needs be much the same as it should have been last time. We can win if the coaches game plan more like they should have done vs. USF. Blitz the linebackers into the gaps created by a decent D Line, and force a young QB to make reads that are all covered man-to-man. If our CBs can’t keep up with D1 receivers to a freshman QB for the majority of a game, and if our safeties can’t pick up on the reads, then we probably don’t deserve to win anyway.
