I don’t know how unusual it is. A lot of fields get watered down a little
before game time. Especially during the summer time. It softens the dirt a little so cleats dig in a little more. Without knowing more details, we can’t tell if this is a nefarious attempt, or just normal... details like what time of the year or evening, how soon before game time, how long did they run?
