I actually completely agree with you. If BYU got in a P5, I would still

celebrate wins regardless of if we made the conference championship game. Otherwise, you would only get to celebrate and be happy once every 5-10 years...and that is if your team is a decent team and capable of fielding a really special group. Most teams in P5 conferences don't ever go to the conference championship.
